Chinese Feb inflation higher than expected-c bank chief

BEIJING, March 14 (Reuters) – China’s inflation in February was higher than expected, but not by enough to force a change in strategy, central bank governor Zhou Xiaochuan said on Sunday.

The People’s Bank of China would stick to its original plan, Zhou said, in response to a question about whether February inflation data would force the central bank to move faster to cool the economy.
“February CPI was higher than forecast but not by too much,” Zhou said.
Consumer inflation rose more than expected to 2.7 percent in the year to February from 1.5 percent in the year to January, official figures showed on Thursday. [ID:nTOE6290B5]
